Case History

South Texas Operator Eliminates Tubing Swap Workovers with the Ares Dissolvable Valve Barrier™

Time & Location

Q4 2020 - Present | Eagle Ford South Texas

Well Conditions

BHT 230°F BHP 4,500 psi Freshwater

Challenge

This Operator recognized the potential for significant cost savings by installing gas lift equipment during initial tubing installation rather than after production decreases. Their challenge was to protect the valves during installation should the well come in and have the ability to circulate kill fluid without damaging the gas lift valve seats.

Solution

Shale Oil Tools developed the Ares Dissolvable Valve Barrier™ to protect the gas lift valves during installation should kill fluid be required. After a predetermined period, the protective barrier dissolves allowing the gas lift valve to function normally.

Value

By installing gas lift equipment during the initial tubing installation, the operator eliminated rig costs, lost production time and emissions related to a future tubing swap and gas lift valve installation - accelerating time-to-production and saving thousands of dollars per well.
