Description

The patented Ares Dissolvable Valve Barrier™ is a groundbreaking technology from Shale Oil Tools designed to isolate and protect your gas lift valves during installation and flowback. The barrier prevents crossflow and wash, ensuring optimal protection, and is compatible with all standard gas lift valves.  It features a customizable dissolution timeline (ranging from days to months), enabling gas lift functionality when you need it.

With a 10,000 psi rating, Ares is specifically engineered for high-pressure applications requiring backside isolation. Unlike traditional disk subs, which necessitate slickline interventions and can produce debris that damages equipment, Ares requires no intervention and leaves behind a clean wellbore. It is also ideal for hybrid gas lift systems, allowing a seamless transition from annular to tubular flow without the need for a tubing swap.

Features

  • Versatile Compatibility: Fits gas lift mandrels from all major gas lift providers, ensuring broad adaptability.
  • Flexible Assembly Options: Can be assembled by your gas lift provider, Shale Oil Tools, or in-house.
  • Customizable Delay Periods: Offers configurable delay periods (from days to months) with metallurgies tailored to specific annular fluid environments and temperatures.
  • No Surface Action Needed: Injection is enabled without requiring any surface intervention.

Benefits

  • Save significant costs: Reduce workover expenses by eliminating the need for future tubing swap interventions, potentially saving tens of thousands of dollars per well.
  • Optimize flow transitions: Seamlessly shift from natural flow to gas lift, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Extend valve life: Improve durability of gas lift valves during extended flowback periods, ensuring longer-term reliability.
  • Maximize production: Protect tubular flow gas lift valves from crossflow and wash during annular flow, enhancing injectivity and production in hybrid gas lift applications.
  • Ensure high-pressure safety: Provide an additional 10,000 psi barrier during tubing installation, crucial for high-pressure formations.

Business Driver

  • Enhance operational efficiency by installing gas lift valves and tubing directly after cleanout while workover equipment is on-site, rather than waiting for the well to decline and scheduling additional workover operations.
  • Improve well productivity by transitioning from natural flow to gas lift sooner.
  • Maximize injectivity and avoid damage to gas lift valves during extended flowback periods.

Solution

  • Isolate and protect your gas lift valves with the patented Ares Dissolvable Valve Barrier™ from Shale Oil Tools.
  • For logistical convenience, Ares barriers can be supplied by your gas lift provider or by Shale Oil Tools.
  • Ares is adaptable to virtually all gas lift configurations.

Technical Challenges

  • Vulnerability During Extended Flowback: Gas lift valves are susceptible to damage during extended periods of natural flow, potentially reducing well productivity.
  • Risks with Open Gas Lift Valves: Operating gas lift valves without backside isolation in high bottom hole pressure wells poses significant safety hazards.
